Teton Sangha

About Us

Teton Sangha follows the Vipassana or Insight meditation tradition and offers retreat, practice and study opportunities in the mountainous region of Jackson Hole, WY. This pioneering group was founded in 1995 and has an extensive history and deep roots. The Sangha continues to grow and is comprised of some of the original founding members, as well as people of all ages and from all walks of life.

The local Sangha members themselves are a vital part of the organization and along with our Steering Committee, are engaged in facilitating events and crafting the sacred atmosphere conducive to retreat. There are weekly sitting groups, day-long retreats throughout the year, and one residential retreat held each Fall with the Sangha’s Guiding Teacher for over 20 years, John Travis. Visiting teachers are also sometimes hosted. Teton Sangha provides retreat scholarships annually and has set up a special fund for this purpose.
